  • Isabella Litchfield (1848 - 1923) - Australian playwright and poet. Litchfield was born in Rushworth and became known for her poetry and plays, which were often inspired by the Australian bush and rural life.
  • Sir Frederick McCoy (1823 - 1899) - Irish-born Australian geologist and natural scientist. McCoy was appointed Professor of Natural Science at the University of Melbourne in 1854 and later became Director of the National Museum of Victoria. He spent several years conducting geological surveys in Victoria, including in the Rushworth area.
  • Daisy Bates (1859 - 1951) - Irish-Australian journalist, welfare worker, and ethnographer. Bates spent several years living and working in the Rushworth area during the early 1900s. She became famous for her efforts in recording Aboriginal languages and customs.
  • Dean Bailey (1967 - 2014) - Australian rules footballer and coach. Bailey played for the Essendon Football Club and later had a successful coaching career with various AFL teams, including the Adelaide Crows. He was born in Rushworth and began his football journey at the local club.
  • Arthur Russell (1878 - 1965) - Australian politician. Russell served as a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1911 to 1930, representing the seat of Rodney. He was born and raised in Rushworth.
  • Constance Stone (1856 - 1902) - Australian physician and suffragette. Stone was the first woman to graduate in medicine from an Australian university and went on to become a prominent advocate for women's rights. She was born in Rushworth.

  • Sir Charles Gairdner (1898 - 1983) - Australian surgeon and academic. Gairdner became renowned for his work in thoracic surgery and served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Western Australia from 1952 to 1966. He was born in Rushworth.
  • Frank Wilkes (1928 - 2009) - Australian politician and farmer. Wilkes served as a member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1969 to 1991, representing the Division of Gwydir. He was born and raised in Rushworth.
  • Mr. Justice Edward Eyre Williams (1892 - 1972) - Australian jurist. Williams served as a Justice of the High Court of Australia from 1943 to 1952. He was born in Rushworth and later became a prominent legal figure in the country.
